"To bear witness to the truth" is a phrase spoken by Jesus to Pontius Pilate in John 18:37, identifying his purpose for entering the world. It signifies testifying to divine, absolute reality and God's love, rather than just subjective or human truth. It implies a call to righteousness, often leading to conflict with the world.

John 18:37, Jesus says, "For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth.".

This truth is described as divine, unchanging, and originating from God.

To testify to what has been seen and heard, acting as a "martyr" (from the Greek martys, meaning witness) for what is true.

It involves sharing the gospel, testifying to the work of God in one's life, and standing against falsehood.

Bearing witness can lead to rejection or hatred from the world because it exposes wrongdoing.,

This witness is a transmission of the faith in words and deeds. Witness is an act of justice that establishes the truth or makes it known.

"Bear witness" means to testify, provide evidence, or confirm that something is true, often based on personal experience or observation. It is a formal phrase used to confirm facts, demonstrate evidence of a situation, or acknowledge a significant event, often carrying moral or legal weight

Witnessing in the Bible refers to sharing the gospel, testifying to Jesus’ resurrection, and living a transformed life. Key verses include Acts 1:8 (power to be witnesses), But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Matthew 28:19-20 (the Great Commission), "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit..."

1 Peter 3:15 (preparedness to share faith). "...but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect."

Mark 16:15 "And he said to them, 'Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.'"

2 Corinthians 5:20 "Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God."

Matthew 5:16 "In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."

Isaiah 43:10 "You are my witnesses,' declares the Lord, 'and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he..."

Power from the Holy Spirit: Witnessing is not done in one's own strength but through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Living a life that reflects Christ is essential to being a witness.

Actively telling others about Jesus’ resurrection and salvation.

Going beyond just telling to teaching and making disciples of all nations.

Being a witness requires boldness, even in difficult situations (Acts 4:31).
