The Catholic Defender: Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe
Updated: 3 hours ago
Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mystical Rose, make intercession for the Holy Church, protect the Sovereign Pontiff, and help all those who invoke thee. As the Mother of the True God, she is asked to obtain the grace of keeping the faith, sweet hope, burning charity, and final perseverance.
Dearest Lady, fruitful Mother of Holiness, teach your ways of gentleness and strength, and hear personal intentions offered with confidence. Believers call upon the Queen of Martyrs and Apostles to help walk amid thorns and win souls, concluding through Jesus Christ.
O Most Holy Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe, you appeared as a gentle mother to bring hope, compassion, and peace. Believers ask to be wrapped in her mantle of love, interceding for healing in body, mind, and spirit, and looking with tenderness upon families and communities. The complete prayer guides the faithful to trust in the Lord and place all intentions in her hands, which can be found in the referenced web document.
This prayer recalls Mary's direct promises of comfort to St. Juan Diego on the mount of Tepeyac.
This petition recalls the promises made on the mount of Tepeyac to show compassion, hear supplications, and give relief to those in affliction. Inspired by the confidence that no one fleeing to her protection is left unaided, the faithful prostrate themselves to seek her maternal gaze and mercy.
Additionally, the shorter traditional intercession invokes Our Lady as the Mystical Rose to protect the Church and the Sovereign Pontiff, while obtaining the graces of faith, hope, charity, and final perseverance from her Son.
