The Catholic Defender: What is "Racist" about Old Glory?

Recently I heard on Fox News that the U.S. women's national soccer team was leading other countries to disrespect the United States. Or rather other nations were joining them kneeling before their opening matches of the Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday. This was after the International Olympic Committee relaxed their position on "acceptable" forms of protest?

All eleven starters to include those of the Swedish team protested the United States on the basis of "racism". They all dropped to one knee for ten seconds after they heard the whistle blow before the game was to begin. But in reality, they are protesting the National Anthem and the Flag.

So, what I want to know is where does anyone see racism in honoring the Flag, the Anthem, or the military?

Explain how this is racist?

The traditional method of folding the flag is as follows:

(A) Straighten out the flag to full length and fold lengthwise once.

(B) Fold it lengthwise a second time to meet the open edge, making sure that the union of stars on the blue field remains outward in full view. (A large flag may have to be folded lengthwise a third time.)

(C) A triangular fold is then started by bringing the striped corner of the folded edge to the open edge.

(D) The outer point is then turned inward, parallel with the open edge, to form a second triangle.

(E) The diagonal or triangular folding is continued toward the blue union until the end is reached, with only the blue showing and the form being that of a cocked (three-corner) hat.

Is there anything from A to E here that constitutes racism? Triangle is mentioned here three times, which has this interesting information:

"A triangle represents manifestation, enlightenment, revelation, and a higher perspective. It is often used to mark the cycles of growth that lead to a higher state of being. Spiritually, it represents a path towards enlightenment or connection to an omnipresent being." Very interesting, but what is racist about this? Unless your a Pagan or an Atheist, I see this very enlightening.

If it is not the triangle that is racist, maybe it is the number three because the mentioning of Triangle occurs three times? Well, I looked into this as well and this is what I found:

"Three is the first number to which the meaning “all” was given. It is The Triad, being the number of the whole as it contains the beginning, a middle and an end. The power of three is universal and is the tripartide nature of the world as heaven, earth, and waters. It is human as body, soul and spirit." Again, what can be racist about this?

It the Triangle or the number 3 is not racist, maybe these "Athletes" are protesting something else about the flag?

Meaning of Flag-Folding Program

The flag-folding ceremony represents the same religious principles on which our great country was originally founded.

The portion of the flag denoting honor is the canton of blue containing the stars representing states our veterans served in uniform. The canton field of blue dresses from left to right and is inverted only when draped as a pall on the casket of a veteran who has served our country honorably in uniform.

At the ceremony of retreat, a daily observance at bases during which all personnel pay respect to the flag, the flag is lowered, folded in a triangle fold and kept under watch throughout the night as a tribute to our nation’s honored dead.

The next morning it is brought out and, at the ceremony of reveille, run aloft as a symbol of our belief in the resurrection of the body.

What is racist about the "Flag-Folding Program"? Again, Unless your an Atheist, I see this very enlightening.

Consider the obvious, those protesting the American Flag is not because of racism, that might be the cover, but I believe the issue is far more sinister. Remember how all this got started? Colin Kaepernick began his protest wearing socks calling the police pigs with a pro-Communist tea-shirt honoring Cuba's Fidel Castro. This protest is not really about racism or really police brutality. It is about protesting American values and ideals. It is really protesting the Constitution. That is the real purpose of the protest.

In saying this, am I saying that the police is perfect? No I am not, but the vast majority of police are good public servants. Those who have done wrong should be held under the same law as everyone else. But to be fair, lets take a gander at the symbols for the folds of the flag to see if their is anything racist there.

Symbols for the Folds of the Flag

The first fold of our flag is a symbol of life.

The symbol of life represents all life. Now that does run counter to the Black Lives Matter message that recognizes only black lives matter. That is not really true as the BLM does not respect Black Conservatives, the Black unborn children are not defended, the organization of BLM are Communist. They do not defend faith in America but the Paganism that is based with Marxist tactics.

The second fold signifies our belief in eternal life.

Anything racist about that? No, but if your protesting this, maybe its because those protesting are rejecting the freedom of Religion in America. Due to their Paganist influence, they are pushing Abortion and Homosexuality which would be hidden within their protest. It is more convenient to accuse good people of racism because they get more mileage out of it. Through these "protests", they hope to alter and change Americans beliefs and ultimate acceptance to their new Globalist teachings. Their promotion of Paganism and Atheism is their vehicle to move America towards Socialism. This is really the heart of their protest.

The third fold is made in honor and tribute of the veteran departing our ranks, and who gave a portion of his or her life for the defense of our country to attain peace.

In our military, we have Americans from every background coming from all over the country from every walk of life. I proudly served with troops of all races. I served under and over all races and the armed services continues to work hard to ensure that promotions are fair. It should not be because of the troops that these Athletes are protesting their country. The very ones giving them freedom to be Athletes to represent a great nation as ours.

The fourth fold exemplifies our weaker nature as citizens trusting in God; it is to Him we turn for His divine guidance.

If you are protesting this, it could only be because of the continuation of their purpose to oppose faith in America. Obviously the leaders of their movement have an agenda. Unfortunately, they are using many of these Athletes as pawns who might be dabbling into a Pagan, Atheistic Marxist movement. They may be influenced by the culture they are making for themselves which includes their rejecting God and working to rob America of our Constitutional right to freedom of Religion. To the leaders, racism only serves as a cover, to the pawns this becomes a family to become a part of.

The fifth fold is an acknowledgment to our country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, “Our country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right, but it is still our country, right or wrong.”

America first is our way of entrusting to our leaders that we defend the rights held by our Constitution while at the same time respecting other nations rights to have their own positions. That is the whole point of having the Olympics in the first place, to develop good will to all. That does not mean that we should be globalist and place our sovereignty under someone else flag.

The sixth fold is for where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Patriotism and Paganism does not go together especially when our foundations come from a Judeo/Christian background. Secularism has led to where we have been going for decades. These protests are the result of Socialism being prevalent in our higher places of learning. Patriotism is not racist unless you believe freedom is against the Marxist State.

The seventh fold is a tribute to our armed forces, for it is through the armed forces that we protect our country and our flag against all enemies.

Our nation is free as long as our military is capable of providing security for our country. Those pushing for Socialism really would not want to see America enslaved if they ever realized what would happen should America fall. Suppressed people around the world look to the stars and stripes of our Flag which represents our freedom. We should respect our military and recognize the sacrifice it takes to defend our country. It should not be shown the kind of ingratitude and disrespect coming from those who are protesting.

The eighth fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day, and to honor our mother, for whom it flies on Mother’s Day.

This eighth fold I find disturbing? To protest your very own mother is the height of sadness, who in their right mind would do such a thing outright? Unless these Athletes are just plain ignorant of this honoring of their mothers. Didn't Jesus say that even the Pagans do as much, to care about their own? Obviously not in this case?

The ninth fold is an honor to womanhood, for it has been through their faith, love, loyalty, and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great have been molded.

I have four groups of women that I personally care for. First is the Virgin Mary, my Spiritual Mother, next my Mother along with my wife. Those are two amazing women in my life. My Daughter is my next lady then all my grand-daughters. Those are my leading ladies in my life. With them, I honor all women who make America great. Consider the Hail Mary prayer, "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of your womb..." All women are blessed, especially those with sanctifying grace in their souls. They shine bright as the stars. Is that racism? Not at all.

The 10th fold is a tribute to father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of our country since he or she was first-born.

Maybe this one is problematic for those involved in witchcraft and other Paganist who view womanhood as a form of some goddess of some kind. Maybe they grew up hating their fathers, maybe they did not know their fathers? Regardless, it is a sad commentary to oppose the flag because you do not like men or your fathers.

The 11th fold, in the eyes of Hebrew citizens, represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies, in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Unfortunately, there are those who are prejudiced against the Jews, with the influx of Muslims coming into America due to Obama and Clinton's Muslim push, that has become an issue. Still, I know a number of Muslims who do not hate America and are willing to live along side their Jewish countrymen. This is not a racist issue. We can work together. I was able to help Iraqi Muslims who had children born with birth defects, how was I able to help them? Through Israeli Doctors!

The 12th fold, in the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son, and Holy Ghost.

I think this one is probably the most obvious reason that these Athletes are protesting the American Flag, the Anthem, and the troops. It is because of our turning away from our Christian foundations. I see this everyday much of it due to what happens to our children when they go to college. Rebellion is in the wind and it is being made manifest in these protests. It is not due to racism which is a cover.

The last fold, when the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost, reminding us of our national motto, “In God We Trust.”

For years these protesters have been pushing to get our motto, "In God We Trust", off our currency. That is only the beginning. They seek to take out any visual image of faith in America; out of site, out of mind.

There is absolutely nothing racist about our Flag, our Anthem, or out troops. These are not the true reason for all these protest that began with Colin Kaepernick. It can be seen coming from our own government today as they are catering to these protesters. We need to pray for America like never before.

I Chronicles 7:14 says, "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." Lord, open our minds to the great worth of human life and the responsibilities that accompany human freedom. Remind Your people that true happiness is rooted in seeking and doing Your will. Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, Patroness of our land, grant us the courage to reject the "culture of death." Lead us into a new millennium of life. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen
