The Virgin Mary's apparitions to Sister Reinolda May at Ngome, South Africa, starting in 1955, where Mary identified as "the Tabernacle of the Most High," were not initially fully endorsed but became a significant Catholic pilgrimage site after local church leaders eventually approved it as a place of prayer in the 1990s, acknowledging the devotion and graces associated with the site, though the authenticity of the visions remains officially unconfirmed by the Vatican.

August 22, 1955, during Holy Communion, wherea vision reportedly appeared as the "Tabernacle of the Most High" and requested a shrine be built where "seven springs meet". Our Lady is said to proclaim that Mary promised abundant graces and conversions at the shrine.  The site has become a popular pilgrimage destination, with reported miracles and healings.

In the 1990s, the Diocese of Eshowe, under Bishop Bisaye, acknowledged Ngome as a "place of prayer,"

The South African Catholic Bishops' Conference's TAC found nothing objectionable in promoting the sanctuary, leading to greater acceptance.

The Ngome Marian Shrine has become a major Christian pilgrimage site in Southern Africa, known for spiritual upliftment and healing, with a dedicated chapel, convent, and ongoing activities.

In May 2024, Cardinal Wilfrid Napier blessed a new statue of "Our Lady Tabernacle of the Most High" at the shrine, further solidifying its status as an active center of South African Catholic life.
