The Catholic Defender: St. Joseph Taught the Word of God to the Word of God

Consider how fantastic this title is when you really think about St. Joseph as Jesus Foster-Father. John the Virginian shared this title on Deepertruth-Radio as he had heard from a radio show on EWTN. The Gospel of St. John states:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be."

Jesus took his complete DNA from His Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary at the moment of the Incarnation. Mary conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35) and all the Eucharistic Miracles attest to this actual happening scientifically.

As Jesus did receive His DNA from His Mother, Jesus received his instruction by St. Joseph. Jesus received from Joseph the trade of being a carpenter, a hard worker. This would certainly be a part of Jesus teaching to His Apostles and us.

St. Joseph as head of the Holy Family, the responsibility laid upon him from God cannot be overestimated. Pope Leo XIII states, "In St. Joseph, heads of the household are blessed with the unsurpassed model of Fatherly watchfulness and care."

What a great example and role model Fathers today have in St. Joseph. The importance of Fathers in the family is critical especially now because of the attack on the family. We need that leadership and St. Joseph delivers that in the most powerful way.

Catholic teaching is that the Virgin Mary had no other children. Jesus had close relatives who are regarded as Brothers, but St. Joseph had no other children with the Virgin Mary. St. Joseph was Mary's chaste Spouse. He had to be strong in his dedication serving God in His plan of Salvation for the would.

If Fathers would teach their children to honor women, to really honor themselves, we would turn around all the problems we face today with all the drugs, the Sexually Transmitted Diseases, the suicides, the confusion of who they are as persons.

1 Corinthians 16:13 states, "Be vigilant, stay firm in the faith, be brave and strong." St. Paul is using very strong biblical wisdom in his application teaching others. It's this kind of wisdom that St. Joseph manifested through his life in the Holy Family.

By following the model of St. Joseph, you would certainly be following the wisdom of St. Paul. Likewise, much of Jesus teaching would be grounded in St. Joseph. Luke 2:51-52 states, "He (Jesus) went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus advanced [in] wisdom and age and favor before God and man." Jesus was obedient to St. Joseph honoring the 4th Commandment, “Honor thy father and mother.”

Vatican News reports, "With the Apostolic Letter “Patris corde” (“With a Father’s Heart”), Pope Francis recalls the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. To mark the occasion, the Holy Father has proclaimed a “Year of Saint Joseph” from today, 8 December 2020, to 8 December 2021."

Pope Francis is authorizing a Plenary Indulgence through December 8, 2021 which includes Confession, Communion, and Praying for the Pope's spiritual intentions.

A Plenary Indulgence: a remission of the entire temporal punishment for sin.

The plenary indulgence is granted to those who will meditate for at least 30 minutes on the Lord’s Prayer, or take part in a Spiritual Retreat of at least one day that includes a meditation on St. Joseph. “St. Joseph, an authentic man of faith, invites us”, the decree reads, “to rediscover our filial relationship with the Father, to renew fidelity to prayer, to listen and correspond with profound discernment to God’s will.”

Father Donald H. Calloway published a fantastic book that has started a movement, Consecration to St. Joseph, The Wonders of Our Spiritual Father. This consecration is being presented in many parishes in the United States and at Deepertruth-Radio, we are conducting this on Tuesday nights for a total of six shows lead by Mark Kiser.

All six shows will be available on Deepertruth in the archive so people who wants to make this consecration later will be able to do so.
