The prudence of the Vatican's 2024 strategy appears to be bearing fruit. Many people (myself included) had a hard time understanding the 2024 Vatican actions" John Benko and his T4P
On September 19, 2024, the Vatican's Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith issued a nihil obstat (a "no objection" declaration) approving pilgrimages and devotion tied to Medjugorje, officially recognizing its positive spiritual fruits without declaring the apparitions supernatural in origin
Official Nihil Obstat: The Holy See determined that nothing hinders the faithful from participating in and expressing devotion to Our Lady of Peace in Medjugorje, making official pilgrimages fully authorized.
Vatican sees spiritualue of Medjugorje, doesn't judge it supernatural
Pilgrims are drawn to Medjugorje, Bosnia-Herzegovina, by reports of Marian apparitions, and while the Vatican has declined to say whether or not Mary really is appearing there, it has judged positively the spiritual impact of the Medjugorje devotions. It is not diabolical as John Benko continues to falsely push.
Vatican's Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith issued a nihil obstat (approval with no objection) for Medjugorje, allowing pilgrimages, while reports later surfaced that a small minority of six communist sympathizers during an earlier internal 2016 evaluation had labeled the phenomenon diabolical.
Six Vatican consultors explicitly judged the Medjugorje phenomenon to be diabolical in origin during a secret 2016 vote, according to a report published by Italian journalist David Murgia.
The "Diabolical" Dissent: Within those dissenting votes, a specific group of six members—including three cardinals—went further, classifying the phenomena as a "satanophany" (a demonic intervention) rather than a holy apparition
Proposed Punishment: These six consultors called for the local visionaries to be consigned to "ecclesiastical oblivion" and demanded a total condemnation of their memory.
The Vatican's Response: Despite these severe historical reservations from its internal committee, the Vatican ultimately bypassed these conclusions years later. In September 2024, the Holy See officially authorized public devotion and pilgrimages to Medjugorje under its new discernment frameworks, notably doing so without officially declaring whether the apparitions have a supernatural origin.
The Decision: Granted a nihil obstat, meaning the faithful can safely practice devotion and visit the site, though the Vatican stopped short of declaring the alleged Marian apparitions officially supernatural.
Spiritual Fruits: Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández noted the abundant positive spiritual outcomes, conversions, and prayer experiences tied to Medjugorje.
Nice try John Benko, you lose again, Medjugorje is not Satanic nor diabolical. God is truly at work here, not the Devil despite you push for the Devil. Medjugorje is a "Fortress against Satan".
Out of the panel, six consultors (a distinct minority) argued the long-running phenomenon in Bosnia and Herzegovina stemmed from demonic intervention rather than heaven.
This extreme minority view did not dictate the Vatican's final 2024 pastoral judgment, which instead focused on the positive spiritual reality experienced by millions of pilgrims.
