"O Mother of Perpetual Help, intercede with Jesus to protect us from danger, evil, and every temptation that threatens our souls. Surround us with your loving and protective mantle and shield our hearts, our families, and our communities from all harm.

Ask her to be your light, refuge, and strength against the snares of the enemy. By your heavenly grace, guard our bodies and spirits, keeping us always under your protection. Through Christ our Lord. Amen."

Our Lady of Perpetual Help (also known as Our Mother of Perpetual Succour) is a title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary

Mother of Perpetual Help, you have been blessed and favored by God. you became not only the Mother of the Redeemer, but Mother of the redeemed as well. We come to you today as your loving children. Watch over us and take care of us. As you held the child Jesus in your loving arms, so take us in your arms. Be a mother ready at every moment to help us. For God who is mighty has done great things for you, and God's mercy is from age to age on those who love God. Intercede for us, dear Mother, in obtaining pardon for our sins, love for Jesus, final perseverance, and the grace always to call upon you, Mother of Perpetual Help.

Oh Mother of Perpetual Help, grant that I may ever invoke your powerful name, the protection of the living and the salvation of the dying. Purest Mary, let your name henceforth be ever on my lips. Delay not, Blessed Lady, to rescue me whenever I call on you. In my temptations, in my needs, I will never cease to call on you, ever repeating your sacred name, Mary, Mary. What a consolation, what sweetness, what confidence fills my soul when I utter your sacred name or even only think of you! I thank the Lord for having given you so sweet, so powerful, so lovely a name. But I will not be content with merely uttering your name. Let my love for you prompt me ever to hail you Mother of Perpetual Help. Mother of Perpetual Help, pray for me and grant me the favor I confidently ask of you.

The original icon is a Cretan-style painting on wood with a gold-leaf background. Key symbolic elements include:

The Child Jesus: Depicted with a fallen sandal, signifying His human fear as He looks at the instruments of His future Passion.

The Archangels: Michael and Gabriel are shown holding the cross, lance, and sponge—the instruments of the Crucifixion.

Mary’s Gaze: Unlike many icons where the figures look at each other, Mary looks directly at the viewer, offering comfort and pointing to her Son as the source of salvation.

Inscriptions: Greek abbreviations identify the figures: MP-ΘΥ (Mother of God), IC-XC (Jesus Christ), and the names of the archangels.

Origin: The icon likely originated in Crete between 1325 and 1480.

The Redemptorists: In 1866, Pope Pius IX entrusted the icon to the Redemptorist Order with the command to "make her known throughout the world".

Current Shrine: The original is permanently enshrined in the Church of St. Alphonsus Liguori on the Esquiline Hill in Rome.

Feast Day: Celebrated annually on June 27.

Wednesday Novena: Many parishes worldwide hold a weekly novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, a tradition especially popular in the Philippines.

Patronage: She is the national patroness of Haiti and is invoked for help with illness, anxiety, and "perpetual" assistance in daily life.
