The Catholic Defender: The Memorare Prayer

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection,

implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence I fly unto thee,

O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Remember

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from you; it is the gift of God;

implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.

His mercy is from age to age to those who fear him. He has shown might with his arm, dispersed the arrogant of mind and heart.

Inspired by this confidence I fly unto thee,

He has thrown down the rulers from their thrones but lifted up the lowly. The hungry he has filled with good things; the rich he has sent away empty. He has helped Israel his servant,

O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.

remembering his mercy, according to his promise to our fathers, to Abraham and to his descendants forever.”

To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not

Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home.

my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

The justification for asking Mary to intercede for us is once again found in the Bible. Revelation 5:8 depicts "the prayers of the saints" being set before the altar of God in heaven.
