The messages of Our Lady of Good Success refer to a series of Marian apparitions to Mother Mariana de Jesús Torres in Quito, Ecuador, primarily between 1594 and 1634. These messages are famous for their detailed and sober prophecies regarding the state of the Catholic Church and society starting in the mid-20th century.
The apparitions of Our Lady of Good Success are officially approved by the Catholic Church.
The devotion centers on a series of Marian apparitions to Mother Mariana de Jesús Torres, a Conceptionist nun in Quito, Ecuador, beginning in 1594.
The Church's approval for this devotion is historical and foundational, dating back to the time of the visionary herself
The devotion was first approved by the 9th Bishop of Quito, Salvador de Ribera, who in 1611 officially attested to the miraculous completion of the statue and presided over its solemn consecration.
The 10th Bishop of Quito, Pedro de Oviedo, further authorized and promoted the devotion during his governance (1630–1646).
In 1991, the statue was granted a canonical coronation, which is a formal recognition of the image's significance and the widespread devotion to it.
Mother Mariana de Jesús Torres (1563–1635) was a founding nun of the Conceptionist Royal Convent in Quito. She has been declared Venerable by the Church.
"Good Success" (Buen Suceso) refers to the "good outcome" or "happy ending" of God's plans, particularly the presentation of Jesus in the Temple (the Purification).
The messages famously foretold a significant spiritual and moral crisis within the Church and society, specifically mentioning the late 19th and 20th centuries. They promised a "marvelous restoration" through Mary's intercession.
Mary requested a statue be made in her likeness. Tradition holds that while the sculptor was away, the statue was miraculously completed by the Archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, and St. Francis of Assisi.
Widespread Corruption of Customs: A near-total loss of innocence in children and modesty in women.
Crisis in the Priesthood: Many priests would lose their spirit, become attached to wealth, and neglect their sacred duties.
Attack on Sacraments: The sacraments of Matrimony and Holy Orders would be particularly ridiculed, oppressed, and profaned.
Rise of Secret Sects: The messages specifically mentioned that "Masonry" and similar sects would infiltrate all levels of society and the Church.
The "Dark Night" of the Church: A period where "the one who should speak will fall silent," implying a lack of leadership from those in authority during the height of the crisis.
The Five Meanings of the Extinguished Lamp
Heresies: The propagation of various heresies would extinguish the "precious light of Faith".
Loss of Vocations: A great decrease in religious vocations, partly due to the corruption of customs.
Spirit of Impurity: An atmosphere saturated with impurity that would flood the world "like a filthy ocean".
Corruption of Innocence: Evil invading the hearts of children, thereby destroying future vocations.
Indifference of the Wealthy: Those with the means to help the Church would remain indifferent while she is oppressed.
Despite the gravity of the warnings, the core of the message is one of hope.
Our Lady promised that "when everything seems to be lost,"
she would intervene to "overthrow proud Satan" and bring about a Great Restoration of the Church.
She encouraged the faithful to remain steadfast, promising that
she would always be ready to listen to those who have recourse to her
Promise of Restoration: While the messages foretold periods of moral decay and confusion (specifically citing the 20th and 21st centuries), Mary promised a "marvelous restoration" of the Church once evil appears triumphant.
Confidence in God’s Timing: The devotion encourages believers to remain steadfast during "spiritual catastrophes," trusting that Mary’s intercession will bring light out of darkness.
Maternal Protection: The miraculous statue in Quito, completed by angels according to tradition, features Mary holding a crosier (abbot's staff), symbolizing her direct protection and governance over those who seek her aid.
Listen each of you, to your Mother Mary as she warns you:
“Unbridled passions will give way to a total corruption of customs because Satan will reign through the Masonic sects, targeting the children in particular to ensure general corruption” (Author’s note: understand that the Communist revolution was bankrolled by the Masons. The Communist were Satan’s evil dupes and atheistic, murdering many 10’s of Millions all over the world and still at it today through the Marxist/Communist governments which include the United States now)
Mary went on to say “Unhappy, the children of those times! Seldom will they receive the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation. As for the sacrament of Penance, they will confess only while attending Catholic schools, which the devil will do his utmost to destroy by means of persons in authority. “
“The same will occur with Holy Communion. Oh, how it hurts me to tell you that there will be many and enormous public and hidden sacrileges!
“In those times, the sacrament of Extreme Unction will be largely ignred…
Many will die without receiving it, being thereby deprived of innumerable graces, consolation, and strength in the great leap from time to eternity.
“The sacrament of Matrimony, which symbolizes the union of Christ with the Church, will be thoroughly attacked and profaned.
Masonry, then reigning, will implement iniquitous laws aimes at extinguishing this sacrament.
They will make it easy for all to live in sin, thus multiplying the birth of illegitimate children without the Church’s blessing…
“Secular education will contribute to a scarcity of priestly and religious vocations.”
“The Holy sacrament of Holy Orders will be ridiculed, oppressed, and despised, for in this both the Church and God Himself are oppressed and reviled, since He is represented by His priests.
Our Lady of Good Success was quite clear on what would be the demise of the Catholic Church—the general theme-- a lax and perverse clergy.
Certain members of the Catholic clergy would become as thieves stealing that Tabernacle light...
thieves that would steal what is rightfully ours by virtue of our baptism in the Catholic Church—our Faith. They would rob us of Doctrine, Dogma and Tradition— ransacking the Church as it were leaving us in total darkness without even as much as the light of the Sanctuary Lamp (which signifies the presence of the Holy Eucharist-- -Jesus Christ, Himself).
Our Lady of Good Success went into great detail to explain what the five reasons were for the extinguishing of the light. The first reason why the lamp was snuffed out was because in the end of the 19 th Century and during the 20 th Century , heresies would prevail not only in Ecuador but universally.
“As these heresies spread and dominate, the precious light of Faith will be extinguished in souls by the almost total corruption of customs.” The second reason was that in these times the Conceptionist Community would shrink and even be infected with bad attitudes and false charity as a result of the pervading situation of the Church at the time. Many vocations would be lost as a direct result .
(This was to be considered a reflection of a more universal condition during these times). However, “ The faithful souls would suffer a continuous and slow martyrdom, weeping in secret and imploring that such dire times be shortened.” The third reason the lamp failed was due to the fact that during this century a worldwide campaign against the virtues of chastity, and purity would succeed in ruining the youth. Our Lady of Good Success affirmed, “There will be almost no virgin souls in the world ” The fourth reason the lamp was put out was to demonstrate how the Masonic and other secret sects would have so much influence on society and even the Church. “During these unfortunate times,” she foretold,
“evil will invade childhood innocence. In this way, vocations to the priesthood will be lost, resulting in a true calamity.”
