The Catholic Defender: Meet John Doe Today, could be You

Recently I have been watching some Gary Cooper movies and I do enjoy the westerns and early American stories enacted in these films. I came across the movie, "Meet John Doe", which is about a made up story named John Doe. Gary Cooper, a former baseball player dealing with hard times in the depression, finds himself playing the role of John Doe. He became an overnight success.

Eventually, his fame became known far and wide encouraging people of good will to come together. In watching the movie, the message of John Doe is centered on the concept that Americans should learn to love one another from the Gospel message.

The John Doe movement became a national movement that eventually, political foes began looking to take advantage of the movement. When John Doe (Gary Cooper) became wise to the motives of these "politicians" they went after him and the movement. Do you know how they went after the people? The began inciting violence against those who supported the movement and hit them with fraudulent charges. They utilized the media to black out any message of John Doe.

As I watched the movie, especially towards the end, I couldn't help but think how the Democrats have taken this movie and made it a reality. Like the movie, the Democrats used the media for their agenda and silenced anyone who disagreed with them, Facebook, Twitter, the vast majority of Cable News to include Fox. The violence we see that is not reported against good people, the powerful using the schools to indoctrinate Marxist, Communist, Socialistic tactics seeking to uproot freedom and capitalism.

What the onslaught that politicians and their supporters did almost brought John Doe to the point of suicide. A very dangerous place to be. Our country today is in a very dangerous place to be. What is at stake is the cause of freedom, the right to be a self-governing nation that obeys the commandments and precepts of God. What it will take is good people to have courage to stand for what is right against those who seek to destroy our nation.

Who are the John Does of today? Those who do love their neighbor and care for our American way of life. Those who love God above all things, who see Jesus in every person, those who have no one to pray for them. The American experiment is liberty for every person. Everyone has the right to improve themselves through the means they have. Nothing wrong with getting the aid from those who can give. We make something of ourselves and give back as we can to help others. That is the Gospel Message.

President Trump brought about the greatest movement in my lifetime to bring back the American dream. The far Left from the very beginning set out to distort the message, to attack the message, to bring up trumped up charges and have tried to erase historical records during the Trump years. We have had no greater president who stands for Justice and the American way of life. Do not let the far-Left destroy what has been accomplished, especially the freedom of Religion. True liberty is the freedom to Know God, love God, and serve God.

God our Father, Giver of life, we entrust the United States of America to Your loving care. You are the rock on which this nation was founded. You alone are the true source of our cherished rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Reclaim this land for Your glory and dwell among Your people. Send Your Spirit to touch the hearts of our nation´s leaders. Open their minds to the great worth of human life and the responsibilities that accompany human freedom. Remind Your people that true happiness is rooted in seeking and doing Your will. Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, Patroness of our land, grant us the courage to reject the "culture of death." Lead us into a new millennium of life. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
