The Catholic Defender: The Saintly Pope and His Chief Vatican Exorcist

born Karol Józef Wojtyła[ˈkarɔl ˈjuzɛv vɔjˈtɨwa];[a] 18 May 1920 – 2 April 2005) was the head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State from 1978 until his death in 2005. He was elected pope by the second papal conclave of 1978, which was called after John Paul I, who had been elected in August to succeed Pope Paul VI, died after 33 days. Cardinal Wojtyła was elected on the third day of the conclave and adopted the name of his predecessor in tribute to him.

At the time of Pope St. John Paul II's elevation to the Papacy, there was a well known Vatican Exorcist known as the Chief Vatican Exorcist of the 20th Century. The Pope and Father Amorth for years had been good friends.

Just about 3 years into Pope St. John Paul II's Papacy, the reports emerged that the Virgin Mary was appearing at Medjugorje: Our Lady of Medjugorje, also called Queen of Peace and Mother of the Redeemer, is the title given to alleged visions of the Blessed Virgin Mary which began 24 June 1981 to six Croatian teenagers in Medjugorje, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As the Vatican's chief exorcist for 30 years, Father Gabriel Amorth claimed to have dealt with the devil 60,000 times. The late Father Amorth was one of the most influential exorcists of the Catholic Church of the 20th century. The priest fought all his life so that the Vatican would recognize the order of the exorcists and eventually achieved success. Now the exorcist priests have a structured international association and clear intervention procedures.

Starting in the 1980s, Father Amorth became one of the most convinced supporters of the veracity of the apparitions in Medjugorje. At the time the Church was investigating and for decades did not express an opinion on that phenomenon. Unfortunately the exorcist could not see the recognition before he died. At the end of a long investigation, in fact, the Ruini commission judged the first seven to be authentic.

Father Amorth’s other great battle can be considered the recognition of the Medjugorje apparitions. The first journey of the priest in the place of Marian devotion took place in 1981 and already in that case he was fully convinced of what we saw. In fact, in a secret notebook, the exorcist wrote: “The children [seers] are sincere.” In the presence of the Madonna he believed blindly and “with all of himself,” convinced that the Bosnian visionaries and pilgrims were the Madonna’s army against the evil one.

Father Amorth is a famous exorcist but few are aware that he is also one the most outspoken supporters of the special events taking place in Medjugorje. Medjugorje is a town in Bosnia where for over 28 years the Blessed Mother is said to be appearing to six "Visionaires". Father Amorth speaking about the apparitions said "Surely. Medjugorje is a fortress against Satan. Satan hates Medjugorje because it is a place of conversion, of prayer, of transformation of life."

"I always understood Medjugorje as a continuation of Fatima. According to Our Lady’s words in Fatima, if we had prayed and fasted, there would not have been World War II. We have not listened to her and therefore there was a war. Also here in Medjugorje, Our Lady often calls to prayer for peace. In her apparitions, Our Lady always presents herself under another name to show the goal of her apparitions. (Queen of Peace - Medjugorje, Our Lady of Fatima -Fatima. Lourdes - The Immaculate Conception)

Notice what St. John Paul II said about Medjugorje: Saint John Paul II: “Medjugorje is the continuation of Fatima. The Madonna appears for the first time in communist countries because of the problems that come from Russia,”

The Queen of Peace at Medjugorje 1981 – “The Russian people will come to glorify God the most.”

“Medjugorje is the continuation and fulfillment of Fatima” The Virgin Mary at Medjugorje August 2, 1991

Two of Pope St. John Paul II and Father Amorth defenders in their defense of Medjugorje are Donald Hartley ( Founder and head of Deepertruth)

I believe that Jesus Christ is the 2nd Person of the Trinity, the Son of God made man, that He was born of a virgin and that He suffered and died on the Cross for my sins in accordance with the Scriptures. That He was resurrected on the 3rd day and ascended into Heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father.

If you take what Father Amorth says, sounds much like what Pope St. John Paul II is reported to say about Medjugorje. I see the connection, sad that the peanut gallery does not, at least they are not willing to admit it. They are too much invested Calling the Virgin Mary an idol and a demon. Well, the Pharisees did the same with Jesus calling him a devil.

Along with Donald Hartley are many of the Deepertruth followers and partners such as Noted Catholic Convert and speaker, Author, John Carpenter.

John Carpenter is a Member of Deepertruth and co-hosts the series "Journey with Mary" on Sunday Night's on Deepertruth Internet Radio.

John Carpenter was raised in a Methodist church, his father was a Minister of a Methodist congregation, who now is a devout Catholic.

Notice that Our Lady of Medjugorje is known as the "Queen of Peace", and Medjugorje is also called the fortress against Satan. Yet there are some who says that Our Lady of Medjugorje is a devil and an idol coming from the peanut gallery feeding the "unholy Trinity" saying the devil leads the Lord's Prayer in front of a large crowd, that the Lady says all religions are equal, that she is an indifferentist and many more falsehoods? The Unholy Trinity as Catholic Journalists, it doesn't take much looking into these falsehoods to right these wrongs. If I can do so with a stroke, these could have done so as well. I have read their reports, that is why I call them the unholy Trinity because they are more agenda driven and not truth driven in dealing with Medjugorje.

Patrick Coffin, Donal Foley, and John Benko (The Unholy Trinity) has teamed up against Pope St. John Paul II, Father Amorth, Donald Hartley, and John Carpenter calling us "Liars", "cowards" calling Our Lady of Medjugorje a "demon" and an "Idol". There are many good people who have been mislead and misinformed by these three.

What is the difference between the healings of John Traynor and Colleen Willard? One was healed at Lourdes and the other healed at Medjugorje. Both healings are remarkable very similar.
