The Catholic Defender: Band of Survivors

“Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When it’s branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, know that he is near, at the gates. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away”.

It seems that mankind does not learn from the past. Jesus words were fulfilled with the destruction of Jerusalem on the 9th of AV, 70 A.D (Tish’a B’ Av) at the three O'clock hour. (Incidentally, this was the very same day and time, (9th of Av, in 586 B.C.) (Tish’a B’ Av) with the destruction of the Temple (2 Kgs 24:18-25). This event was known as the Babylonian Captivity when the Jews were taken to Babylon as slaves. Yet, the spiritual rebellion that cause the destruction of Jerusalem is growing today in our own time. Jesus continues to warn:

“But of that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. For as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. In those days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day that Noah entered the ark. They did not know until the flood came and carried them all away. So will it be also at the coming of the Son of Man”.

The United States is being swept away by a new age, progressive agenda that sets itself in contrast to the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a result, the Catholic Church is being made war upon. It has been a process in the making from the early 1900′s with the Progressive Movement.

President Ronald Reagan once said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free”.

In 2010, while I was still deployed in Iraq, my Brigade Chaplain warned me that the Gay Activist had already approached the Military Chaplaincy. They warned that the United States Army Chaplaincy would have to modify what they preach from the pulpit. This with the consent of the Obama/Biden Administrations.

Is this not an attack on the Constitution of the United States? Is this not the beginning of an outward offensive. The Socialist/Marxist do not fear the public because these are tactics coming from their playbook. Obama and Biden both have the same goals and commitment to anarchy.

Storm clouds are coming and Christians are going to be forced to comply or they will be punished. This is only the beginning as we have set into motion events that anything opposing them will be met with denial, with the force of the United States Government.

Consider the future of the Supreme Court. The influence that Obama had on the Court will be greater even than President Roosevelt. He was able to to get the High Court to usher in "Gay Marriage" that runs side by side with Abortion. What lead to the taking of the bible and prayer out of public schools will continue with the legalizing Gay Marriage, Abortion, and Obama-care.

The Progressives will not stop until they silence the Church. They want to put in jail those who would refer to homosexual acts as sin. They want to remove the Church from having political influence which opposes their extreme left positions. We are refereed to as the “far-right” when in fact, they themselves are far -left.

The Progressives have packaged themselves as “centrist”, mainstream. America used to be considered center right as a nation, but it has had a dramatic shift. At least until Virginia voted Conservative for Governor this past election (2021).

People who were once known for being strong traditional family supported Obama nearly 75%. We are not in the process of losing our soul, we have already lost it.

Our only hope is in Jesus Christ if we are to turn things around.

Our struggle is only beginning, this is not a time for the Church to hide under a bushel basket. It is not a time to compromise our faith and values. It is time for us to take a stand for Christ, souls are at stake.

The Virgin Mary at Fatima warned against this very thing, this very threat and we have not listened.

Maybe we simply thought that this was for Russia and Eastern Europe? This could not really happen in America could it? Well, it has happened as a result of our falling away from the Faith, for compromising with evil and embracing it.

There will be a Band of Survivors who will stand up for Jesus Christ and his Holy Catholic Church even though our voices will be diminished in the public eye. Yet, Our Lord and Our Lady is standing here with us. The following is very possible because great is our God: As we are setting our path in motion that might be difficult still, we can trust in the Lord:

“But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear. Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it” (Matthew 13:16-17).

Yesterday as I was with Our Lord in Eucharistic Adoration, I was thinking about the above scripture.

For thousands of years, the people of God earnestly awaited for the coming of the Messiah to follow him. Finally, in time and space, the Messiah did come and he gave us great signs and wonders. What a great time to be alive in the history of mankind.

We are living in the springtime of evangelization bringing the word of God to the nations. People today who live in bondage welcome what they see of Christ in us, and listen to Jesus Word as they hear us today.

Jesus said , “Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father” (John 14:12).

I am so thankful for my Catholic Faith that the Lord Jesus Christ calls me to serve him by virtue of my Baptism and Confirmation. To serve our Lord during this time of the final countdown reaching many people who are open to God’s presence that we can see and His Word that we can hear: “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord”, so that the captives can see who are blind, so that the deaf can hear his voice.

At a time when people are calling for a false rapture, the truth of God continues to march on until the Day of the Lord when He does return. The Parousia will come but until that time, we continue to do God’s Will fighting for the salvation of the lost.

The Catholic Faith was built upon the foundation of the Apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone. Today we are the Church. Be encouraged no matter how bad things might seem because our God is too big to fail.

St. Paul writes, ”Concerning times and seasons, brothers, you have no need for anything to be written to you. For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief at night. When people are saying, ‘Peace and security,’ then sudden disaster comes upon them, like labor pains upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape” (1 Thessalonians 5:1-3).

There is no escape except through the Catholic Faith. If we are vigilant through all our tribulations the thief will not catch us sleeping. To be blessed today, we need to keep our eyes open and our ears listening for the voice of the Lord. Do not detour from the Lord’s straight and narrow path that lights our way.

Jesus still speaks through the “Bark Of Peter”! The Catholic Faith is the one true Faith commissioned by Christ and sent by Christ to go to the Nations.

There are no good rabbit trails that will lead you home. When the news reports about preachers calling for a “Rapture” on this day or that hour, just remember that such false prophets will come. Be encouraged because Jesus said that his people know his voice. It is his voice we follow by being faithful to his Church.

If you know anyone who has left the Catholic Faith, invite them back. Pray them back, stand strong for love of God and love for the Church. Work out each day with the desire to serve Our Lord. There are many Prodigals out there to be found under just about any rock you can imagine. Work towards bringing them home to the true Rock of Christ! They too would be part of the Band of Survivors.
